Lower
East Branch Trash Trap Tallahassee, Florida The City of Tallahassee Trash Trap project involved the preparation of construction drawings and permitting of a floating skimmer, collection area and associated site work for a facility designed to collect trash, debris and floatables from the Lower East Branch Ditch in Tallahassee, Florida. This project required substantial structural design including a galvanized bar rack and concrete holding structure, a modular aluminum floating skimmer, a post-mounted skimmer, a rock-filled diversion dike, and a gravity retaining wall. All these structural engineering services were performed by our in-house structural engineers in close coordination with DRMP's experienced water resources staff. Dimensions and design criteria for the project were based on DRMP's 1996 watershed study of the Lower East Branch Ditch, a study and report on similar structures prepared exclusively for this project, and coordination with City Stormwater Department and Maintenance personnel. DRMP analyzed a variety of alternatives before developing a conceptual, geometric and structural design for the facility. DRMP also oversaw the permitting of this project through the Department of Environmental Protection and the City of Tallahassee. The detailed site design was prepared and bid and construction management services were provided.
