Suncoast Parkway Section 5
Hernando County, Florida

The project consisted of new construction of 7-3/4 miles of 4-lane divided expressway with two interchanges, five bridges, and two urban arterials. Component plan sets include right-of-way, survey, signing and marking, signalization, maintenance of traffic, utility adjustments, and highway lighting.

The highway lighting analysis consisted of lighting justification, alternatives analysis, potential lighting of existing sidestreets and cost comparison analysis.

The project involved the design of a bike trail complete with trailheads along the entire alignment. The design team coordinated with residents on providing safe crossings to a nearby school for pedestrians. Also involved were spirals and bifurcated sections to minimize impacts to existing vegetation and numerous access roads to maintain existing local roadway networks.
