DRMP’s Restrepo Earns GISP Certification

Tampa, Fla. – Miguel Restrepo, Water Resource Project Engineer at Dyer, Riddle, Mills & Precourt, Inc. (DRMP), has earned his certification as a GIS Professional (GISP) by the GIS Certification Institute (GISCI), an independent institute supported by national and international GIS professional organizations.

Restrepo has joined an elite group of 206 GISPs in the state of Florida. This certification requires achievement in three areas: educational achievements, professional experience and contributions to the profession.

DRMP’s Griscom Appointed to an International Engineering Task Force

Norcross, Ga. – David Griscom, Director of Georgia Government Relations for Dyer, Riddle, Mills & Precourt, Inc. (DRMP), has been reappointed to the American Public Works Association (APWA)/ Institute of Public Works Engineering Australia (IPWEA)/ Association of Local Government Engineering New Zealand Incorporated (INGENIUM) Task Force by the President of APWA, Larry W. Frevert, P.E.

The Task Force meets once a year at the APWA Annual Congress to exchange ideas, information, technology and management practices amongst the Public Works counterparts of Australia, New Zealand and the United States.

Griscom has been with DRMP for a year and has over 26 years of experience within the local governmental public works arena.

DRMP Adds Engineering Department Manager in Ft. Myers

Ft. Myers, Fla. – Carl Karakos, P.E. has joined Dyer, Riddle, Mills and Precourt, Inc. (DRMP) as the Engineering Department Manager in Ft. Myers.

In his new position, Karakos will be responsible for marketing, project management and technical oversight of staff production as well as establishing and maintaining client relationships.

Karakos has over 27 years of experience in numerous facets of Civil Engineering. His technical design experiences encompass: Interchanges, Highways, Bridges, Intersections, Commercial Developments, Residential Developments, Municipal Facilities, County Facilities and Federal Government Facilities.

Professional Florida Land Surveyor Elected Cape Coral Council Member

Cape Coral, Fla. – DRMP’s Southwest Florida Area Surveyor Manager, Jim Burch, PMS, was elected as the City of Cape Coral’s District One, Councilman on Tuesday, November 6, 2007. Cape Coral is, geographically, the second largest city in the State of Florida, with a population of approximately 170,000.

Burch was able to gain over 8,600 votes, garnishing 59.49% of the votes in District One- the most votes received in all five districts. His term will last two years.

Burch has over 30 years of experience in the surveying profession. He has provided surveying services in California, Florida, Maryland and Virginia. Burch can be reached at 239-337-1109 for any information regarding the City of Cape Coral or survey matters in the Southwest Area of Florida.

Restrepo has 15 years of experience in both public and private sectors and is involved with modeling and GIS analysis processing for DRMP’s water resource projects.

DRMP’s Bishop Elected Vice President of Florida Surveying and Mapping Society, Volusia County Chapter

DeLand, Fla. – Joseph Bishop, PLS, a DRMP surveyor, was recently appointed as Vice President of the Volusia County Chapter of the Florida Surveyors and Mappers Society (FSMS).

Bishop has been with DRMP for a total of 19 years and is currently the Survey Field Manager in the DeLand office. Bishop said that this opportunity will help him, “to assist local surveyors and mappers in conveying their concerns on items that govern our profession to our state level FSMS officers and lobbyists.”

DRMP’s Jason Houck Earns GISP Certificate

Orlando, Fla.- Jason Houck, an Environmental Scientist with DRMP, has earned his Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP) certification from the GIS Certification Institute (GISCI), an independent institute supported by national and international GIS professional organizations.

Houck has been with DRMP for four years and is a GIS Analyst in the environmental sciences department. With this certification, Jason joins an elite group of 181 certified GISPs in the state of Florida. This certification requires achievement in three areas: educational achievement, professional experience, and contributions to the profession.

“Having this certification shows that my experience, education and demonstrated abilities have been reviewed by my peers within my field and has been accepted as meeting the standards for certification,” said Houck.

DRMP Announces New Surveying and Mapping Leadership in Panama City Beach

Panama City Beach, Fla. – DRMP has appointed Steven Kieffer, PSM as the new Surveying and Mapping Department Manager in the firm’s Panama City Beach office.

Steven Kieffer is a Florida Registered Professional Surveyor and Mapper and brings 25 years of experience to the firm. His new responsibilities will include project management leadership, oversight of staff and client relations for current and future surveying and mapping projects produced out of the Panama City Beach office.

DRMP’s Wild Passed Surveyor in Training Exam

Gainesville, Fla. – DRMP’s Christopher Wild, SIT has passed the Surveyor in Training (SIT) Exam which is regulated by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation and administered by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES).

Wild currently serves as a Survey Intern in DRMP’s Gainesville office, where he has gained experience as a survey/cadd technician and crew worker. Wild will be graduating from the University of Florida this December, with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Geomatics.

Four Pass CST Exam in DRMP’s Orlando Office

Orlando, Fla. – DRMP’s David Winters, Guy Adkins, David Volpe, and Steve Bray have all passed the Certified Survey Technician (CST) Exam sponsored by the National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS).

Winters, Survey Technician, has been with DRMP for two years and passed CST level two. Adkins, Survey Technician, has been with DRMP 25 years and passed CST level three along with Volpe, Survey Crew Supervisor, who has been with DRMP for 20 years and Bray, Survey Crew Chief, who has been with DRMP seven years.

DRMP’s Fredlund Relocates to Promote Growth in Georgia Office

Norcross, Ga. – Tim Fredlund, PE, has relocated from Dyer, Riddle, Mills & Precourt, Inc.’s (DRMP) Ft. Myers office to lead the firm’s transportation engineering services in its Norcross, Georgia office.

Fredlund brings 13 years of experience in transportation engineering with an emphasis in the design and construction of state and municipal roadway projects as well as downtown redevelopment and streetscaping projects. Fredlund will be responsible for the growth and development of DRMP’s transportation presence in Georgia while providing project leadership and mentoring for the transportation staff.

Three DRMP Surveyors Hold Board Positions in Florida Surveying and Mapping Society

Fla. – DRMP surveyors, Mike O’Neal, PSM, and Steve Ford, PLS, currently serve as chapter presidents for the Northwest and Charlotte Harbor Chapters of the Florida Surveying and Mapping Society, along with Mary O’Neal, PSM, who serves as vice president, for the Northwest Chapter.

DRMP Adds Senior Land Planner in Ft. Myers Office

Ft. Myers, Fla. – Nicole DeVaughn, Senior Land Planner, has joined Dyer, Riddle, Mills & Precourt, Inc. (DRMP) as a project manager in the Ft. Myers office.

DeVaughn brings five years of experience to the firm and will primarily be responsible for annexations, comprehensive plan amendments, planned unit developments, developments of regional impact, and land development regulation amendments. DeVaughn has public sector experience with both large and small scale developments as well as drafting language for comprehensive plans and land development regulations.

DRMP’s Stalder Recognized by Sunshine State One Call of Florida

Orlando, Fla. – Christopher J. Stalder, a Subsurface Utility Coordinator with DRMP, was recognized by the Sunshine State One Call of Florida for his “demonstrated excellence in locating underground facilities and in appreciation of his efforts in damage prevention.”

Along with this recognition, he will be sponsored to participate in the upcoming International Locate Rodeo in Atlanta, GA in early August 2007.

Stalder has four years experience locating and coordinating work for subsurface utilities. His range of experiences includes: use of specialized utility locating equipment and training, utility records research, utilities data interpretation, coordination and implementation of subsurface utility projects, real estate legal documents review, field sketching and subsurface utility designating.

DRMP’s Cashwell Earns Engineer Intern Certificate

Tampa, Fla. – DRMP’s Elizabeth Cashwell has earned her Engineer Intern Certificate from the state of Florida.

Cashwell currently serves as an Engineer Intern in the Water Resource Division of DRMP’s Tampa office. She is responsible for assisting project engineers with drainage analysis, permitting and drawing plans. She is a member of Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society and the American Society of Civil Engineers.

Six Pass CST Exam in DRMP’s Jacksonville Office

Jacksonville, Fla. – DRMP’s Chad Norman, Cindy Kuglar, Will Rice, Adam Silva, Glenn Barnes, and August Thick have all passed the Certified Survey Technician (CST) Exam sponsored by the National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS).

Thick, Field Crew Supervisor, passed CST level three. Silva and Barnes, Party/Crew Chiefs, passed CST level two. Norman, Survey Technician, Kuglar, Office Manager and Rice, Rodman, all passed CST level one.

Three DRMP Employees Earn Professional Engineer Licenses

Orlando, Fla. – DRMP’s Chad Croft, Gene McClendon, and Shannon Medeiros have all earned their Professional Engineer license from the state of Florida.

Croft, with over six years of experience, and McClendon, with over five years of experience, both serve as Project Engineers in DRMP’s Water Resources Division. Medeiros has over five years of experience and serves as a Project Engineer in the Land Development Department.

DRMP’s Shannon Earns Engineer Intern Certificate

Panama City Beach, Fla. – DRMP’s Travis Shannon has earned his Engineer Intern Certificate from the state of Florida.

Shannon currently serves as an Engineer Intern in the General Civil Division of DRMP’s Panama City Beach office. He is currently responsible for assisting project engineers with jobs ranging from reviewing plans to producing drawings for aid in presentations and meetings. He has been involved in a wide variety of projects including: cost estimates, bid reviews, surveying, field work, site reviews and design plans.

Tampa , Fla. – Donald B. Fairbairn, PE has joined Dyer, Riddle, Mills & Precourt, Inc. (DRMP) as a Senior Project Manager in the Transportation Division of the Tampa office.

Fairbairn brings 33 years of transportation experience to DRMP including roadway, drainage, site and bridge design. The majority of his past work has been with FDOT Districts One, Three, Five, Seven and the Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise. He is currently a member of the Florida Engineering Society (FES) and the American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE) where he has served as a Director and Vice President.

DRMP’s Murphy Relocates to Promote Growth in N.C. Office

Charlotte , N.C. – Greg Murphy, PE, former Senior Project Manger in DRMP’s Gainesville office, has moved to the North Carolina office where he will serve as the Department Manager of Land Development.

Murphy has over 27 years of experience in site civil engineering and land development including: site layout, grading and drainage, stormwater management/hydrologic design, permitting, pavement design and solid waste facility design. His new responsibilities as Manager of the Land Development Department will include providing project management leadership, managing and mentoring the land development staff and marketing efforts for land development projects.

DRMP’s Ula Earns South Carolina Professional Engineer License

Columbia , S.C. – Mohammed Sadrul Ula, PE, a Senior Traffic Engineer with Dyer, Riddle, Mills & Precourt, Inc. (DRMP), earned his Professional Engineer License in South Carolina adding to the other PE license he currently holds in Georgia.

Ula has more than eight years of experience in traffic and transportation engineering design and has been involved with projects throughout the southeastern United States. He currently leads traffic efforts in the Columbia office where he is in charge of signal design, pavement and marking design, maintenance of traffic and traffic studies.

DRMP’s Schrumpf Earns South Carolina Professional Engineer License

Columbia , S.C. – Allen Schrumpf, PE, a Transportation Engineer with Dyer, Riddle, Mills & Precourt, Inc. (DRMP), earned his Professional Engineer License in South Carolina adding to two other PE licenses he currently holds in Florida and New Jersey.

Schrumpf has been with DRMP for 15 years and primarily serves as the Director of Quality Assurance/Quality Control Program. In this role, he establishes the criteria and procedures for Quality Control review, staffs, schedules and audits the results for conformance with DRMP’s Quality Control Policy.

DRMP Adds Project Engineer in Boca Raton Office

Rivas recently graduated from Florida Atlantic University (FAU) where she earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Civil Engineering. She is professionally associated with the American Society of Civil Engineers as well as Tau Beta Pi Honors Society.

DRMP Announces New Surveying and Mapping Leadership in Pensacola

Pensacola, Florida – DRMP has appointed Rich Williams, PLS as the new Surveying and Mapping Department Manager and Bryan de Jesus, SIT as the new Project Surveyor for its Pensacola office.

Williams is a Florida registered professional land surveyor and brings 26 years of experience to the firm. He will be responsible for ensuring timely completion of all current and future surveying and mapping projects produced out of the Pensacola office.

De Jesus is a Florida registered surveyor in training and brings five years of experience to the firm. He will be responsible for assisting Williams with project management, client relations and field crew supervision for all surveying and mapping projects.

DRMP’s Skurski Earns Professional Wetland Scientist

Orlando, Florida – Doug Skurski, an environmental scientist with DRMP, earned his Professional Wetland Scientist certification from the Society of Wetland Scientists.

Skurski has been with DRMP for five years and is a project manager in the ecological division.

In this capacity, he performs wetland assessments, federal, state, and local permitting, protected species studies, GIS mapping and analyses, land use/cover classification, habitat evaluation, and environmental impact mitigation.

DRMP Ranks among Top 250 Design Firms in the United States

Orlando, Florida – Dyer, Riddle, Mills & Precourt, Inc. (DRMP) was ranked amongst the top 250 design firms in the United States on Engineering News Record’s Annual “Top 500 Design Firms List.”

DRMP earned the 231st slot in the annual nationwide survey and in the top three of firms based in Orlando. The survey ranks firms based on revenue for design services performed during the calendar year. DRMP has consistently increased its ranking since first making the “Top 500 Design Firms List” in 2000 at #427.

Former White County Public Works Director joins DRMP

Norcross, Ga. – David Griscom, former White County Public Works Director, joined Dyer, Riddle, Mills & Precourt, Inc. (DRMP) as Director of Georgia Governmental Relations to promote the firm’s professional services of transportation engineering, design and planning to municipalities and state agencies throughout Georgia.

Griscom brings 30 years of experience to the firm from the public sector realm where he managed several public works programs at various counties and cities. He has spent the last nine years of his career in Georgia and has worked for the Cities of Gainesville and Auburn before ending his public service career at White County. His recent position with White County provided him the opportunity to manage the county-wide transportation master plan and roadway capital improvements program funded by SPLOST.

DRMP Spreads Geographic Reach into Georgia

Norcross, Ga. – Dyer, Riddle, Mills & Precourt, Inc. (DRMP) has expanded its geographic reach to provide professional transportation engineering and planning services in the Georgia area.

“DRMP’s growth throughout the southeastern United States has been dynamic over the past few years,” said Wayne Chalifoux, President. “The opening of this office is confirmation of that growth and will allow DRMP to provide quality engineering services to the Georgia community.”

David Griscom, former Director of Public Works at White County, will serve as Director of Government Relations to market the firm’s services to local municipalities and state agencies.
