Grissom Road Wetlands and Endangered Species Permitting
Brevard County, Florida

DRMP performed wetland permitting services and permit modifications for approximately three miles of new roadway alignment. The project required extensive coordination with the US Army Corps of Engineers, the Department of Environmental Regulation and the St. Johns River Water Management District. DRMP also developed a 100-acre habitat preservation plan to mitigate for 12 acres of federal wetlands impacts. During construction of the project, the federal government listed scrub jays as a threatened species. Field surveys for scrub jays and red-cockaded woodpeckers were conducted within a one-mile wide corridor along the partially completed roadway. The US Fish and Wildlife Service accepted the survey results.
