Judged on design excellence and innovation using precast concrete, the US 17-92 flyover bridge drastically improved commute time in one of the busiest intersections in Florida.

Orlando, Fla. – Overhauling the US 17-92 Interchange at SR 436 – one of the most congested intersections in the state of Florida with 100,000 commuters daily – was no easy task. Working with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Five’s budget and accelerated schedule, DRMP engineers’ innovative design and groundbreaking bridge technology resulted in a single point urban interchange that reduced commuter wait time and millions in taxpayer dollars.  The project was awarded the Florida Institute of Consulting Engineers (FICE) Excellence Grand Award.

US 17-92 Interchange at SR 436 Design-Build Project Wins DBIA Florida Region Award

Orlando, Fla. – The Lane/DRMP Design-Build Team’s US 17-92 Interchange at SR 436 Design-Build project was awarded the 2016 Design Build Institute of America (DBIA) Florida Region’s Best Project of the Year in the Transportation-Structures Category. The regional award was judged by a panel of owners and DBIA professionals.

Through extensive coordination between the Lane/DRMP Design-Build Team, FDOT District Five, the project owner, the City of Casselberry and other major project stakeholders, the $22 million project was designed and constructed with a $2 million savings to the FDOT and tax payers. The project was also delivered 30 days before schedule.  Once one of the most congested intersections in Florida, the intersection improvements project has made a large impact on the 100,000 daily commuters that travel the corridor with the flyover bridge drastically decreasing an average of five to 10 minutes in commute time.

Orlando, Fla. – The Lane/DRMP Design-Build Team’s US 17-92 Interchange at SR 436 Design-Build project was awarded the 2016 Florida Transportation Builders’ Association, Inc. (FTBA) Best in Construction Bridge Award. The $22 million project, owned by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Five, was judged on three categories: unusual features, innovative construction and the quality of the materials used for construction.

Chris Towne, PE Promoted to General Civil Division Manager

Orlando, FL – DRMP is pleased to announce that Chris Towne, PE has been promoted to Division Manager of the General Civil Division. He will be responsible for overseeing and managing staff and the technical, financial and business development aspects for the General Civil Division and Geographic Information Systems Department.
Chris has 20 years of experience, including the nine years he has worked for DRMP as a Senior Project Manager and Office Leader of the firm’s Gainesville office. He has a variety of civil engineering experience, including roadway, bridge, airport, structural, drainage, water, sanitary sewer and site civil design. All of this experience has afforded him the knowledge and experience of managing projects with a multi-discipline approach.

Central Florida’s New US 17-92/SR 436 Interchange Receives National Attention from I Build America

Orlando, Fla. – The US 17-92 at SR 436 Interchange Design-Build project has garnered national attention in being chosen as an I Build America’s 2016 Construction Impact Awards Finalist.

The $22 million project, owned by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Five, was one of two Florida projects selected as a finalist out of the 25 semi-finalist construction projects submitted from around the country.  The projects were judged by a panel who were tasked with choosing projects based on “what impact it had on America.”

DRMP Principals Lucius Cushman, Jr., PE and Bill Stone, PE Set to Retire

Orlando, FL – After many years of dedicated service, DRMP Principals, Lucius Cushman, Jr., PE and Bill Stone, PE will retire from the firm effective January 1, 2016.

Cushman joined DRMP in 1983 as a project manager supporting land development and structural engineering projects equally. In 1996, he joined the firm’s Board of Directors and became Board Treasurer the following year. Cushman became a Managing Principal in 1999 and created the firm’s Construction Engineering Inspection Division that same year. For several years, he has served as Principal-In-Charge for both the Structures and CEI divisions. 

In 2000, Stone joined DRMP to steer the firm’s expansion of services and geographic reach in strategic areas. He joined the Board of Directors in 2004 and became a Managing Principal in 2005. He has focused his efforts toward developing business in strategic markets, expanding DRMP’s service areas, and providing oversight and leadership to the firm’s satellite offices.

“With nearly 50 years of tremendous leadership to DRMP between them, Lucius and Bill have not only taken care of the business of managing services, growth and expansion of the firm, but also its staff. They have made a great impact here and will be missed,” said Wayne Chalifoux, PE, President/CEO.

DRMP Announces New Principals

Orlando, FL – DRMP, Inc., a leading civil engineering and surveying firm, announces the promotions of Glenn J. Lusink, PSM; Mark D. Prochak, PE and Mark E. Puckett, PE to Principal. 

“These three professionals are real-life testimonials of what dedication, commitment, hard work and perseverance can achieve,” said DRMP President/CEO Wayne D. Chalifoux, PE. “More importantly, each of them exhibit the character and tenacity to work for the greater good of DRMP including our staff and clients.”

Joining DRMP in 1984 as a survey crew member, Glenn Lusink, PSM has been vital to the expansion of the firm’s survey and mapping/geomatics and subsurface utility engineering (SUE) services. He will continue to lead the Survey and Mapping/Geomatics and SUE Division in his new role as Principal with a three-fold vision for the firm: “to continue growth in the geomatics/civil engineering industry through innovation, technology and mentoring the firm’s future leaders.”

As Principal, Mark Prochak, PE will be heading the firm’s Transportation Division and regional engineering offices. He has successfully managed major limited access and highway design projects since his start as a Senior Project Manager in 2001. Additionally, he’s managed successful design-build projects and pursuits. In his new position as Principal, Prochak envisions continued growth in the division’s regional engineering offices by “providing strong mentorship and quality engineering solutions.”

Starting in 1999 as the sole, full-time Construction Engineering Inspection (CEI) employee, Mark Puckett led the growth of DRMP’s CEI Division. As Principal, he will focus on the overall growth of the CEI Division and manage the firm’s Quality Assurance Program with a vision “centered on the firm’s strategic growth while instituting a quality level of service that is measurable companywide.”

Carl Gibilaro, PE Joins DRMP to Lead PD&E Efforts

Orlando, FL – DRMP is pleased to announce that Carl Gibilaro, PE has joined DRMP as a Project Development & Environment (PD&E) Practice Leader to head its PD&E services.

Along with leading all of DRMP’s PD&E projects, Gibilaro is also responsible for marketing and business development to grow the firm’s PD&E presence in its service areas, project management, technical oversight of staff production, managing client relations and mentoring project engineers.

A graduate of North Carolina State University, Gibilaro has extensive experience with managing PD&E projects in accordance to National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) requirements. With over 25 years of experience, he has also served as environmental task leader, planner and project manager for several NCDOT, FDOT, Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise and municipal PD&E projects. Mr. Gibilaro’s background also includes transportation planning, route feasibility, alignment studies, environmental assessments, drainage studies and pavement marking plans.

Kyle Brown, PE joins DRMP to Lead Development of Federal Market

Melbourne, Fla. – DRMP is pleased to announce that Lt. Col. Kyle Brown, PE, United States Air Force retired, has joined DRMP to lead the development of a larger federal market for DRMP.

Brown, who has 20 years of experience and brings facility operations and program and emergency management expertise, will serve as Federal Project Manager and Brevard Office Leader. Along with being responsible for leading development of DRMP’s federal market, he will also support DRMP’s ongoing projects within Brevard County, FL.

While serving as Commander of the 45th Civil Engineer Squadron at the Patrick Air Force Base in Brevard County, FL, Brown led over 650 military, civil service and contract engineering professionals in the construction, maintenance and protection of more than $10 billion in real property assets. He currently serves as the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) Space Coast Post President in Florida.

Steve Wallace, PE joins DRMP to Lead Transportation Efforts in West Florida 

Tampa, Fla. – DRMP is pleased to announce that Steve Wallace, PE has joined DRMP to lead efforts in Transportation Engineering in Tampa and the surrounding West Florida area.

Wallace serves as Senior Project Manager in DRMP’s Tampa Office and is responsible for project management and design services, marketing and business development for FDOT District Seven and other municipalities, managing client relations, mentoring project engineers and supervising plans production.

A graduate of Colorado State University, Wallace has 19 years of experience and brings extensive FDOT experience having worked as a Project Manager for more than a decade on numerous transportation projects in FDOT Districts One, Two, Three, Four, Five and Seven. He has also managed several local city and county projects, drainage studies, airport design work and construction projects throughout Florida. Wallace’s background includes roadway design, drainage design, construction, utilities, PD&E studies and specifications.

Orlando, Fla. – DRMP is pleased to announce that Joe Di Benedetto, PLS, has joined our Orlando office as Central Florida Area Leader for the Surveying and Mapping/Geomatics Division. In this role, Di Benedetto will be responsible for contract administration, project coordination, technical oversight of staff and their development, marketing and business development, budget and schedule coordination, quality assurance/quality control and growing DRMP’s presence in this region.

Di Benedetto has 37 years of experience and brings direct FDOT experience having spent 17 years of his career working for FDOT Districts Four and Five.  He was previously employed by DRMP from 2003 to 2010 when he served as Office Leader in our DeLand office.
