PERMIT COMPLIANCE MONITORING & CONSTRUCTION SERVICES
DRMP Biologists assisted the contractor in satisfying documentation requirements of the SJRWMD and USACOE permits prior to construction commencement. DRMP staff provided additional assistance with verification of approved wetland impact locations during clearing and grubbing activities, and produced and implemented a Manatee Monitoring Plan, for use during in-water construction activities.
In order to meet the permit conditions for the Lake Fran Flood Control project, DRMP developed a vegetative monitoring plan for a large wetland enhancement project that served as part of the project’s mitigation requirements. Seven plots were selected along a belt transect through the wetland. DRMP performed baseline monitoring for percent cover (canopy, subcanopy and groundcover) and water levels. The first three years of monitoring have been performed and monitoring reports were submitted to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, South Florida Water Management District and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
DRMP Professional Wetland Scientists inspected vegetative plantings during creation of a wetland mitigation site. Plants were inspected for overall health of the specimens at the time of planting, proper spacing and elevations of the plants per the permitted construction plans, and follow up inspections assured plant survival through construction completion.
