Archer Braid Trail Phase 2
Alachua County, Florida

DRMP provided engineering design to provide an 8-foot wide, multi-use asphalt trail constructed along a ±3 mile corridor between SW Archer Road and Kanapaha Park.  This trail was an important milestone of the Alachua County Multi-Modal Transportation Plan which is dedicated to providing multi-modal connectivity between the City of Archer and the University of Florida.  The chosen trail alignment is routed through the Haile Plantation community and adjacent to several schools along Tower Road.  To meet the expectations of the community, DRMP applied context sensitive design solutions and safety enhancements.

Downtown Utility Streetscape Project

Downtown Utility and Streetscape Project
City of Fort Myers

DRMP is overseeing infrastructure improvements to City-owned utilities (including water, wastewater and reuse water) as well as the implementation of a downtown master plan.  The project initially required master planning for utilities for the entire downtown district in order to accommodate for future growth predicted along the Caloosahatchee River as well as conceptual planning and design of new sidewalks and pedestrian amenities.  In addition, DRMP will provide the City with a completely redesigned downtown by addressing other disciplines within the project area including roadway and intersection design, traffic and signalization, traffic control plans, parking analyses, lighting, solid waste management, stormwater management, landscape and irrigation.  DRMP will also provide the City with permitting and bidding assistance and construction administration/construction engineering inspection services until the completion of the project.

Continuing Civil Engineering Services
City of Tallahassee

DRMP provided design and permitting for the addition of new sidewalks along several roadways as part of a continuing services contract with the City of Tallahassee. The sidewalk projects are located along Jackson Bluff Road, Macomb Street, Bragg Drive, Flipper Street and Volusia Street. DRMP provided public involvement, utility coordination, curb and gutter, driveway turnouts, and a secondary stormwater system to replace the existing swales.  In particular, the Jackson Bluff Road project posed an additional challenge as it was located in floodplain and floodway, which required additional environmental permitting to construct the project.

Brevard County Senior Center Trail and Regional Stormwater Facility
City of Titusville, Florida

DRMP was responsible for engineering design and permitting of a joint cooperative stormwater retrofit project which created a regional stormwater facility to reduce pollution to the Indian River, as well as reduced flooding in key areas of the City.  DRMP’s design included two wet detention ponds totaling 3.5 acres on a 12-acre wooded site.  In addition, the local Senior Center benefitted from the project as paved walking trails and elevated boardwalks over wetlands with a gazebo over the lake were included to create a recreation/park facility.  The facility treats and attenuates the stormwater runoff from a 554-acre mixed use basin prior to the ultimate discharge to the Indian River Lagoon.

SR 580, Hillsborough Avenue Streetscape
Hillsborough County, Florida

DRMP provided design for this FDOT LAP funded streetscape improvement project along Hillsborough Avenue (SR 580) from Town and County Boulevard to Ambassador Drive centered upon safety, multi-modal and beautification.  The roadway is a major east-west arterial road.  The project elements included bus stop upgrades, bus shelters, ADA accessibility, decorative brick sidewalks, curb cut ramps, pedestrian lighting, crosswalks, landscaping, irrigation and streetscape enhancements.  DRMP provided extensive stakeholder coordination for this project with FDOT, Hillsborough County MPO, Hillsborough Area Regional Transit (HART) and local Utility Agency Owners.

Professional Engineering Services
Valencia College

DRMP provides continuing engineering services for the College’s seven campuses located throughout Central Florida.  A recent assignment included the widening of a 2-lane access road on Valencia’s Osceola Campus. The roadway was experiencing severe congestion at the intersection of Denn John Lane during peak student hours.  DRMP evaluated several alternatives and their impacts on pedestrian facilities, parking, and stormwater facilities. To alleviate the left turn issues, DRMP engineers widened the roadway to three lanes with one ingress lane and two egress lanes for right and left turning traffic.
