GOPHER TORTOISE PERMITTING & RELOCATION

DRMP provided environmental services during the construction and modification of this tower site.  These services included a detailed wildlife survey within the proposed construction limits to assess the presence of any State or Federally listed flora and fauna within the project area.  A gopher tortoise survey was performed to locate all burrows on site.  DRMP obtained a relocation permit from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, and assisted with the relocation of gopher tortoises from within the construction limits to remaining on-site suitable habitat.

DRMP provided gopher tortoise excavation and relocation services for FP&L.  In addition to relocation, all gopher tortoises were measured, weighed and marked prior to relocation to the Longino Ranch Gopher Tortoise Recipient Site.

DRMP performed gopher tortoise population surveys and listed species assessments on the proposed roadway extension corridor.  All surveys were performed in accordance with Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission Gopher Tortoise Permitting Guidelines.

DRMP was contracted by Longino Ranch, Inc. to establish a gopher tortoise recipient site on the ranch.  Staff biologists assessed the feasibility of the project and conducted gopher tortoise surveys and percent vegetative cover assessments over the 1,200 acre area designated as Phases I and II.  All work was conducted in accordance with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission Gopher Tortoise Permitting Guidelines.

DRMP provided environmental services to WDW Imagineering during the design of Saratoga Springs Resort located within the Downtown Disney Development.  These services included conducting gopher tortoise surveys and obtaining a relocation permit from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.  Also included in the services were the excavation, Upper Respiratory Tract Disease testing, and relocation of the captured tortoises to an approved recipient site.
