Main Street Beautification LAP Project
City of Lakeland

DRMP provided CEI services on this FDOT LAP Project on Main Street in Lakeland, Fla. from Bartow Road to Lake Bonny Drive. The project changes the roadway configuration from 4-lanes to 2-lanes with bicycle lanes with landscaped medians throughout the length of the project. Work activities include regular excavation, embankment, concrete curb, brick pavers, concrete sidewalk, bedding material preparation, irrigation, landscaping, asphalt, signalization (video detection) and utility location. The project has enhanced the multi-modal connectivity with Lakeland’s Central City area and eliminated excess auto capacity, resulting in fewer crashes with little impact on the streets’ overall capacity and travel speed. The project was also selected as the American Public Works Association Florida West Coast Chapter’s 2014 Transportation Project of the Year.

SR 8 (I-10) ITS Design-Build CEI Services
FDOT District Three

DRMP is providing construction engineering inspection services for this Design-Build project to expand the existing Intelligent Transportation System on SR 8 (1-10) in the Florida Panhandle.  The approximate project length along SR 8 (I-10) is 158 miles; along SR 75 (US 231) is 56 miles; and along SR 10 (US 90)  is 9 miles which yields a total approximate project length of 223 miles.  The system components being installed include: fiber optic cable (FOC), microwave vehicle detection systems (MVDS), closed circuit television cameras (CCTV), road weather information systems (RWIS), and dynamic message signs (DMS).  These components will work together to provide communication to and from the newly constructed Regional Transportation Management Center (RTMC) based in FDOT’s Chipley District Office, allowing for incident management and mitigation of traffic congestion, improvement of overall traffic operations, traffic management, and safety along the I-10 Corridor. The project stretches across Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, Walton, Holmes, Washington, Jackson, Bay and Gadsden Counties.

SR 50 Widening  

SR 50 Widening and Improvements CEI Services
FDOT District Five

DRMP is providing contract administration and Construction Engineering and Inspection services for 11 miles along SR 50 (Colonial Drive) in West Orange and East Lake Counties, Florida.  The construction includes widening the existing roadway from a four-lane facility to a six-lane divided highway with roadway reconstruction, MSE, cantilever, sheetpile, and sound wall construction, asphalt paving, drainage pipes and structures, bike lanes, sidewalks, traffic signal, signs, pavement markings, and curb and gutter. The overall construction is divided into three separate construction contracts including sections: design build from Avalon Road to SR 429; conventional design/bid/build from West of Hancock Road to West of Remington Road which includes relocating the intersection of Oakland Avenue and SR 50 244-feet to the east; and a conventional design/bid/build from Good Homes Road to Pine Hills Road.  This segment also included an additional widening project of Good Homes Road from two-lanes to four-lanes from SR 408 to 1000-feet north of SR 50 and three JPA contracts, two with Orange County and one with OUC, to replace water and sewer mains. All work is being performed for FDOT District Five. The section from Avalon Road to SR 429 is an ARRA Economic Stimulus project funded by the Federal Highway Administration.

SR 54/Little Road/Ridge Road ATMS Design-Build
FDOT District Seven

DRMP is providing CEI services for the installation of an Advance Traffic Management System on SR 54, Little Road and Ridge Road.  The design-build project is approximately 19.62 miles and its purpose it to mitigate traffic congestion and improve traffic operations and traffic management.  Project Elements include the installation of a communication network, traffic signal system infrastructure, CCTV surveillance system, DMS system and System Detection. The project also includes the installation of roadway lighting along both sides of SR 54, from Little Road to Gunn Highway.

I-40/I-77 Interchange Improvements
NCDOT Division Twelve

DRMP is providing CEI services for this multi-phase interchange improvements project at 1-40/I-77. Phase A consists of the construction of the I-40 and US 21 interchange to incorporate a new design concept of a Double Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI). The design of this interchange will allow US 21 traffic to flow freely due to the elimination of conflicting left turn movements. It also includes the construction along I-40 with ramps form I-77 Northbound to I-40 Westbound and ramps from I-40 Westbound to the collector distributor. Phase (B) will further continue with completion of the I-40/I-77 interchange proper with the final phase completing the peripheral ends of the two Interstates and placing traffic in the final configuration.  Other improvements include reconstructing US 21 to 4-lanes with a divided median island, sidewalks constructed on both sides and full access will be allowed at Carolina Avenue via a signalized intersection.
