Project Background Summary In 2001, the Florida Department of Transportation employed a local engineering firm to perform a Project Development & Environmental (PD&E) Study for the Palm Bay Parkway, which is now known as the St. Johns Heritage Parkway. The study began in the spring of 2001 and was completed in November of 2004. The focus of the study was to determine the most feasible alignment and design characteristics of the proposed Parkway from Malabar Road to Ellis Road. Brevard County has now engaged DRMP, Inc. to begin the design process for this section of the Parkway. Prior to the preparation of design plans for use in construction, a PD&E re-evaluation needs to be performed to identify the need for any alignment modifications and corresponding impacts due to any social, economic or environmental changes since 2004. In addition, DRMP is tasked with the preparation of a preliminary Engineering Report for the Washingtonia Drive Extension. The limits of this report are from Ellis Road, north to the south boundary of Viera. The details and limits of these projects are described on the following pages of this website.
